For about a century, India a tropical country rich in biodiversity has cultivated cocoa at scale. But for the longest time, the story wasn't sweet. The finest beans were exported abroad, while lower-quality ones were processed into commodity-grade chocolates and compounds which were sold in our markets. Chocolate brands in India have been selling substandard chocolates, technically called compounds and calling it a treat. As consumers, we accepted mediocrity, unaware that we were missing out on the true potential of homegrown cocoa.
Over the past two decades, things have slowly begun to shift. With economic growth and a rising appreciation for quality, Indian companies started exploring the art of making chocolates locally not just as a product, but as a passion. Still, the journey hasn't been easy.
Crafting fine chocolates in India comes with its own set of challenges. Chocolate is temperature-sensitive, and our tropical climate poses unique hurdles for manufacturing and logistics. But with intent and innovation, chocolate-making in India has begun to find its voice.
For us, this journey is about more than just crafting great chocolates. It's about building a future where Indian cocoa is celebrated both at home and across the world. Our vision is to create a thriving, circular cocoa economy one that uplifts farmers and artisans, supports ethical sourcing, and retains value within the country. Through this mission-driven approach, we aim to put Indian cocoa on the global chocolate map not as a footnote, but as a bold, defining chapter.
